Our Story

Bakla Baes began as an unexpected love story—one that started far from the kitchen, but found its way in.

 

Joh had always been passionate about cooking, crafting soulful, savory dishes full of depth and warmth. Baking, though? That wasn’t her thing. Then she met someone with a serious sweet tooth and not a single recipe under her belt. 

L had never cooked a day in her life.

 

But when Joh mentioned that baklava was her favorite dessert, something sparked. Wanting to impress her—and maybe spend a little more time by her side—she asked her to teach her how to make it. 

She said yes.

 

What began as a simple lesson turned into a shared ritual, a creative adventure, and eventually, a business built on love. Together, they experimented, made mistakes, and laughed through sticky batches and syrup-slick counters, slowly perfecting their signature twist on a timeless dessert.

 

Today, Bakla Baes is more than baklava. It’s a love story—told in layers of flaky pastry, spiced nuts, and golden sweetness. Every tray is a tribute to where they started and what they’ve built together.
